'Heavy Metal' movie soundtrack album
For quite some time now I've been toying with the idea of getting the soundtrack, as an LP, to the 1981 film 'Heavy Metal.'
I have noticed that the
prices for copies of the vinyl edition are getting up there, into the $30
and over range for copies in 'Very Good' condition, or better. So I recently shelled out $27 for a VG copy.
You can of course listen to the album in its entirety on Spotify and on YouTube, among other portals. But playing vinyl on a stereo system brings with it an enhanced appreciation for the sound, and takes me back to 1981, which is what it's all about, I think.
Anyways, if you've been pondering whether or not to grab the LP, you may want to do so sooner rather than later.......
yeah the 1981 Heavy Metal Movie Soundtrack album LP is pretty cool. I likewise found my copy online for a decent price, and it came with one of several 45s released around the same time. I've had a CD copy, and also I came across a cassette copy recently. for anyone interested in even more, a Score LP by Elmer Bernstein from the same movie was also released, and I found that this music was even more evocative of the movie than the soundtrack. this was all from over 40 years ago.
ReplyDeleteBlue Öyster Cult's 1981 album Fire Of Unknown Origin has not only their track which was in the film and on its soundtrack (Veteran Of Psychic Wars), but also has two songs which I assume were submitted for inclusion but ultimately not used in the film. One is a real ripper called Heavy Metal (Black & Silver) and the other is a rather silly song called Vengeance (The Pact), which pretty much sums up the narrative of the Taarna sequence.
